Community Guidelines
Last updated: September 22, 2026
Yarcoo is for people looking for a real connection. These guidelines explain what isn't allowed, how to report someone, and what we do when you do. They sit alongside our Terms of Service. If the two ever seem to disagree, the Terms win.
Be yourself
- You must be 18 or older.
- Your photos must be of you, and recent enough that people would recognise you.
- One account per person. Don't pretend to be someone else.
What isn't allowed
On your profile, in your photos, and in your messages, don't post or send:
- Nudity or sexually explicit material
- Anything involving a person under 18, in any context
- Harassment, threats, hate speech, or abuse directed at anyone
- Unwanted contact. If someone asks you to stop, stop.
- Fake profiles, or photos of someone else
- Spam, scams, solicitation, commercial promotion, or requests for money
- Anything illegal under Canadian law
How to report someone
Open their profile, scroll to the bottom and tap Report, then pick the reason that fits best. If you're already chatting, tap their photo at the top of the conversation to get to their profile. The other person is never told who reported them.
If you want to add details or screenshots, or can't reach the report button, email hello@yarcoo.com. The app offers to open that email for you right after you report.
How to block someone
Tap Block on their profile, or swipe on the match in your Matches list. Blocking takes effect immediately: you won't see each other again, and if you were matched, the match is removed. You can block someone whether or not you report them. If you plan to do both, report first: once you block someone, their profile is no longer there to report.
What happens after you report
A person on our team reviews every report within 48 hours. When we look into a report, we may review the reported profile, their photos, and the messages you exchanged with them, as our Privacy Policy describes.
Depending on what we find, we may:
- Remove the photo or content that breaks these guidelines
- Warn the member
- Suspend the account
- Permanently ban the account
Serious violations lead straight to a permanent ban, with no warning first. That includes anything involving a minor, threats of violence, sexual content sent without consent, and scams. If we find a member is under 18, we remove their account.
If we can't find a violation, we close the report. Blocking still works either way, so if someone makes you uncomfortable you never need our decision to stop seeing them.
If your account was actioned
If you think we got it wrong, email hello@yarcoo.com with the phone number on your account and tell us why. A person will read it.
Staying safe
We don't background-check members. When you meet someone, meet in public, tell a friend where you're going, and trust your instincts. If you are in immediate danger, call 911. Then tell us, so we can act on the account.
